Jocelyn
- Very mature and respectable sounding without being completly un-girly.
- a nice alternative to Jacqueline which is really common. And it sounds sophisticated
- (Joss-uh-linn or Joss-linn): I love this name for a lot of reasons. I love the way it sounds. It is soft and feminine, yet aristocratic and noble at the same time. There are two terrific nickname possiblities (Josie which is very cute, and Joss which I think is very nice.) I think it is a very versatile name which would grow well with a child. It is not over-used or trendy, and is yet not too uncommon or strange. It seems to adapt to any era so that it doesn't sound dated. It is also the name of a character from a British television series and novel that I admire for her strength of character and fortitude. (Lady Jocelyn Hollbrook from Tenko.) This name seems timeless to me.
- Jocelyn is one of my favorite names because...well, it's uncommon but not weird. It has a lovely soft, pretty sound, and it could suit a small child or an adult. It has two nicknames that I can think of: Joyce and Joss.
- Jocelyn Antoinette Helen Elizabeth:Jocelyn just sounds beautiful. Elegant. Regal. Antoinette after the great French queen. Helen after my mother. And Elizabeth, as it is a family name.
- Jocelyn Marie: I like it because its sort of old fashioned
Jocelyn actually started out as a man's name! It was originally a Norman surname deriving from the name of a Germanic trible, the Goths.
