Karuna
- My daughter is named Karuna so I have researched it extensively. Thich Naht Hahn (the famous vietnamese buddhist monk) wrote about Karuna as one of the 4 precepts in Buddhism. His words are:...[ Karuna means "to transform and alleviate suffering." i.e., compassion]
- Buddhist term for loving-kindness. Very unusual. I believe it is Indian or Sanskrit in origin, but you might wanna check on that. Very cute possible nicknames include Ru and Runa.
In Sanskrit, Karuna means "compassion; pity." It is one of the spiritual paths of Buddhism and Jainism.
