Kateri

(kuh-te-ree) This was the name of a Native American saint so the name has a good background. It is such a sweet name.

Blessed Kateri Tekawitha (1656-1680) was a Native American woman from the Mohawk & Algonquin nations in what is now central New York state. She converted to Catholicism and took the name Catherine (Kateri in the Mohawk language) after St. Catherine of Siena. She was beatified in 1980.
