Katiuscia

[Ka-tee-uh-sha] for the american people is a very weird name, but here in Italy it was very common in the 70s (in that period the russian names like Katiuscia, Natasha, Tatiana, Mascia, Veruska, Maruska, Dimitri, Igor ,etc. were very very common)! It has a strange sound but it is so lovely!

Katiusha/Katyusha is a Russian diminutive of Ekatarina, the form of Katherine. Katya would be the normal everyday diminutive, Katyusha would be the diminutive used by close friends or relatives.
