Kinsey is a name that came into popularity in the late 20th century along with Kenzie, Mackenzie, McKinley, Kenley etc. Kinsey is an English surname derived from the Old English name Cynesige which is composed of the elements cyne meaning "royal" and sige meaning "victory." The most famous Kinsey was probably American biologist Alfred Kinsey author of The Kinsey Reports, a series of controvertial studies on the sexual behavior of US citizens in the 1940s and 1950s.
