Kwan-Yin
I am in the process of adopting a baby girl from China and this is what I plan to call her: an Americanized (and therefore pronounceable) version of the Chinese name for the Buddhist goddess (bodhisattva, really) of compassion. Venerated throughout the Eastern world. A symbol to Buddhists of loving-kindness. She is to Buddhists what Mary is to Catholics.
