Lasher

A really odd name, once again inspired from Anne Rice but I simply adore it.

Lasher is the title of the second book in Ann Rice's Lives of the Mayfair Witches series. Lasher is a surname, either an Anglicized version of the German name Löscher meaning "a fireman" or a Jewish name denoting someone from Lasha in Belarus. Or, it can be derived from the Slavic word litch meaning "wild," and used as a nickname for someone who was unruly or wild. As an English surname, it may derive from the Old English element loecc meaning "stream."
