Leah

• Leah has been on my favorites list longer than any name. I pronounce it Lee-uh but I like Lay-uh too. It is a short name that stands well on its own and would work well for a child or an adult.

• (pronounced Lei-ah)--classic Biblical name. Brings up memories of Star Wars, but I think it is beautiful nonetheless.

• elegant and simple

• i have always liked the name leigh and wanted to use it as a middle name for a future daughter but then i found leah. it is simple but not plain like ann and lynn. i just love it. i am considering it for one of my daughters.

• I heard this name for the first time in a long while when we were on vacation in Maui this January. It's a classic name that's soft and feminine.

• I like the name Leah, because of the "Lee" sound. Leah also isn't very common, yet isn't unheard of, either.

• Leah Noel: Beautiful daughter-in-law's name. Short, sweet, feminine

• Leah Olivia: Classic, feminine, yet easy to spell; will stand the test of time.

Leah was a prominent figure of the Old Testament, being the first wife of Jacob. The name most likely comes from the Hebrew meaning "weary" (fitting, since the Leah of the bible had 7 children).
