Lily

Lily is the name of a flower. The flower gets its name from the Latin lilium, which has origins in Greek. As a name, Lily was also used as a rare pet form of Elizabeth. It probably owes a lot of its popularity to the fact that the lily flower is a Christian symbol, echoing Christ's words "consider the lilies of the field..." However, the use of the flower is not just limited to Christian practice, as the Hebrew name Shoshana (English: Susan, Susanna) also means "lily."
