Lily
- For me, the name brings to mind two lovely, albeit fictional, ladies--Lily (Evans) Potter and Lily Trescott. Lily Potter is a character from the Harry Potter series-Harry's mother who was killed when he was a baby. Her love was so strong that it protected him from death. Lily Trescott is of the Disney show Hannah Montana. Lily is Miley's (Hannah's) best friend, and is a bit of a tomboy, but is also sweet and the sort of friend everyone should have.
- Over used, feminine and a great name. I think that many people named their daughters after Lily Potter/Evans. Lilly and Lily is two different names for me and I really love Lily!
- Very sweet and feminine for a baby girl, but doesn't sound too childish for an older person. A good way to honor someone named susan (like my mother) because Susan means Lily.
- because it's beautiful and fun.
- A simple, feminine, pretty name. Somehow, for me, it makes me think of a girl with a very sweet personality. Perhaps because I knew a girl with that name who was like that; very sweet.
- Simple, feminine and pretty without being cutesy. The right level of unusualness - ie. fairly unusual without being a 'novelty' name.
- this name is very feminine and not often heard among people
- A shorter version of Cecily it is very cute, short, and sweet. But only keep 1 L or I think it isn't as pretty.
- Very sweet. Easy to spell and say. Also very classic.
- Lily Ella: I LOVE this name, it's cute, sweet and pretty. Lily use to remind me of a grandmother but now it's a very pretty and becoming popular name. I like the name Ella because it's classic and sweet meaning Beauty. I really think these names complement each other. I also really love Lily-Rose and Lily-Rose Melody.
- Lily Margaret: fresh and unique
- Lily Jayne: Lily is simple & sweet and I dont hear the name Jane as much and it sounds good together.
Lily is the name of a flower. The flower gets its name from the Latin lilium, which has origins in Greek. As a name, Lily was also used as a rare pet form of Elizabeth. It probably owes a lot of its popularity to the fact that the lily flower is a Christian symbol, echoing Christ's words "consider the lilies of the field..." However, the use of the flower is not just limited to Christian practice, as the Hebrew name Shoshana (English: Susan, Susanna) also means "lily."
