Luthien

A name from Lord of the Rings. She was an elf-maiden from long ago who gave up her immortality to be with a mortal man.  I love the way the name flows, and  it has a beautiful other-worldly quality. A gorgeous, elegant, feminine name.

Lúthien Tinúviel was an Elven character in J.R.R. Tolkiens Middle Earth series. According to Wikipedia:
The name Lúthien appears to mean "enchantress" in a Beleriandic dialect of Sindarin, but it can also be translated "blossom". Tinúviel was a name given to her by Beren. It literally means "daughter of the starry twilight", which signifies "nightingale". Tolkien modeled the character on his wife, Edith, and on her gravestone it says "Luthien." On his gravestone it says "Beren," the name of the character who Luthien sacrificed her immortality for.
