Lydia

• Sounds sophisticated.  Makes me think of purple and the nickname Lyddie is so cute.
• this is a pretty name for a little girl or an adult.  
• I like the girl's name Lydia. I love the way it sounds. It sounds so graceful, like someone perfect would have to use it.

• I think this name is very unique, and still old fashioned. You can spell it a number of ways, and again, it sounds good on a young girl or older woman.

• Lydia Angharad - I love the name Lydia because it's old-fashioned and not used as much anymore, plus it's Biblical and I love Biblical names.  Angharad is a name I found in a Robin McKinley book (the girl went by Harry) and I fell in love with it because of it's unusual-ness and because the heroine was easy to like and a pretty amazing hero (plus Angharad is mythological and I like those type of middle names).

In Greek, Lydia means "from Lydia," Lydia being a region in ancient Asia Minor. As a name it came into use after the Protestant Reformation a long with a host of other names of minor characters in the bible. The biblical Lydia was converted to Christianity by St. Paul.
