Macy

Macy was originally an English surname (also found as Massey, Macey etc.) coming either from a Norman French place name derived from the Latin name Maccius. It came to be used as a girls' name in the late 20th century after the rise and fall of similar-sounding names like Tracy & Stacy. Its use was probably also influenced by Macy's, a famous chain of department stores.
