Madigan

I used to quite like Madison, but when I saw this I just thought how much prettier, more unusual and less masculine it was. Plus I still get to keep my favourite nickname, Maddie!

Madigan is the anglicization of an Irish surname Ó Madagáin, a personal name that may be derived from madra meaning "dog" + a diminutive suffix. As a first name, it first started being used with any regularity for girls in the late 20th century, riding the coattails of other similar sounding names like Madison and Madeline.
