Malachy

A more unusual name, but still very masculine. I like it shortened to Mal, or even better, to Mac.  I don't normally like middle names but Malachy James works beautifully, I reckon.

Pronounced /MAL ah kee/, Malachy is an Anglicization of the Irish Gaelic name Maelsheachlainn. In medieval Ireland, saints' names were considered too sacred to use on regular people, so often children were named a saint's name with "Mael" in front, which means "servant or devotee." Maelsheachlainn (or Maeleachlainn) means "servant or devotee of Saint Sechnall." Sechnall was a saint whose feast day is November 27. His name is possibly derived from the Latin name Secundus, meaning "second.
