Mariah
- It's my daughter's name, and I think it sounds prettier and more exotic than Maria or Mia. It's Egyptian-Hebrew which also adds some uniqueness.
- I have always liked this name for some reason. It sounds very exotic. In fact it was on my list for naming one of my children, but when people here the name they automaticly think of Mariah Carrey. And I personally can't stand her!
- Mariah Angeline: I think Mariah is such a gorgeous name. It sounds current, but has a lot of history (not to mention Mariah Carey is a goddess to me). Angeline is such a soft-sounding, pretty name with an equally pretty meaning.
- Mariah Baylee: I think that this name would be a name that you could give to a girl that would be full of life and love.
Mariah /ma RYE a/ is how "Maria" (see also) was pronounced in 19th century England. The "h" was added around this time to give it extra biblical flair, à la Sarah and Hannah.
