(muh-leah or just like Maria---muh-reah--- but with an L) I like this name because it is my own unusual name and I have never met anyone else who has been named this.

In Greek mythology, Melia was the name of a nymph, or one of a group of nymphs associated with ash trees, called the Meliae. Melia is the ancient Greek word for ash tree (derived from meli, meaning "honey" due to the sweet sap that is found in ash trees).
