Milo

Milo has obscure Germanic roots. It could be related to the Slavic element mil- meaning "young; gracious; dear." In this form, Milo is a Latinate form of Miles (see also), and was used for official documents in the middle ages (most documents were kept in Latin). However, there is evidence that it may be a form of the name Mild, which may derive from the Germanic milde

  • meaning "mild; gentle." After lying dormant for several centuries, Milo was revived as a name in English in the 19th century.
