The name Myra was first coined by Fulke Greville 1st Barone Brooke (1554–1628), an English poet. He may have based Myra on the Latin myrra meaning "myrrh." Myra is also occasionally used as an anglicization of the Scottish name Maighread.See Also: Maighread
