Nineveh

(a biblical placename/capital of assyria, originally meaning 'fish') unique, oddly feminine, enduring and soft; never heard of anyone with this name either. i wouldnt hesitate to name my first daughter nineveh grace.

Located on the eastern bank of the Tigris river, Nineveh was the capital of Assyria in biblical times. The name may derive from Nina, a name of the goddess Ishtar-- early accounts of the city regale it to be a center of worship of Ishtar. Later on the name became associated with the Arabic nuna meaning "fish," and thus was thought to mean "place of fish."
