Nyssa

Nyssa was a Roman town, famous for being where Saint Gregory of Nyssa hails from. Nyssa is also the genus of trees from which the Tupelo or Pepperidge tree belongs. The tree was named after Nysa, a Greek water nymph due to the fact that the first trees discovered were found growing in swamps. It can mean "beginning" in Greek, "sign" in Hebrew, and apparently "elf" in Scandinavian languages, though I can't find anything substantial to verify this with.
