Ophelia

• OPHELIA for a girl is rather pretty too, but it was used in a Shakespeare play, and in the play she went insane and drowned herself, tragic really , but i still think it is a lovely name

Ophelia is derived from the Greek ophelos meaning "help." Though it was popularized by the character in Shakespeare's Hamlet, the name was coined earlier, probably by Italian poet Jacopo Sannazaro for his poem Arcadia, published in 1504. It has been used as a name (albeit infrequently) in the general English-speaking populace since the Victorian era.
