Pallas Athena is an epithet of Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom. The Pallas part's meaning is disputed. It apparently comes from the name of another person, either a friend, rival, relative or other being who Athena accidentally kills. She then takes the name Pallas for her own, in remembrance or guilt, depending on the story. See Also: Athena
