• a classic grow-with-me name, although I do not like when it is shortened to Paddy.
• I love this name, even though it is somewhat popular. Saint Patrick is the main reason that I like it. It is a strong name that wears well, has stood the test of time for centuries and, I hope, will continue to do so for many years to come.
• It must be the Irish in me that makes me immediately drawn to this great name. It's background and sotry behind the name is why I like it.

This name is an anglicized form of the Irish name Páidraig (also Pádraic). The Irish form comes from the Latin name Patricius, which means "high-born; noble." It was brought to Ireland by St. Patrick, the monk credited with converting the Irish to Christianity, who was probably Welsh.
