Penelope

In Homer's Odyssey, Penelope is the wife of Odysseus, who fends off suitors as she waits for him to return from war. Her name may derive from the name of a type of duck, possibly combined with a suffix denoting a predatory animal (i.e, meaning "killer wigeon"). Alternately, her name may come from Greek pene "weft of a loom" with ops meaning "face." in modern times, Penny is a common diminutive form.
