Persephone

(Per-sef-a-nee): I think this is a strong sounding girls name.

In Greek mythology, Persephone was the daughter of Demeter, the harvest goddess. She was abducted by Hades, the god of the underworld, which made her mother so sad that all the vegetation on earth withered and died. This created the seasons. In Latin, Persephone is known as Proserpina, and in Greek she is also known as Kore ("maiden; girl").
