Riley
- I love the Irish roots of this name. It also generates an image of one who is fun, easy-going and likeable.
- It is such a strong name I hate it when people use it for girls!
- It's a cool and unique name. It sounds kind of girly, but I think it's cool and fun.
- Manly, old-fashioned name. I tend to like surnames as first names.
- a boy's name only in my book. Sounds so irish and rogue!
- Riley Kyler: i love the uniqueness of both of these names. they have become quit common, yet there not at all boring.
- Riley Peck: I like that- it means bushel of wheat. Weird, I know, but I think the name Riley is so good for a boy. Too bad it's being feminized. Are there any boy's names left?
- Riley Thomas: I can just see a little Riley, at the age of 5. It will fit a baby, child, and man. I like it with Thomas, because I have a good friend (who is my boss), names Tom, and I like him so much, that Thomas would be a great fitting name!
Riley has two origins-- it can be an English surname coming from words meaning "rye" + the common ending -ly which comes from lea, meaning "clearing; meadow; field."
It can also be an anglicization of the Irish surname Ó Raghallaigh whose meaning is speculated to be "valiant; courageous."
