Sarika

(SAH-ree-kah) A different and more interesting (to me) nickname of Sara(h) used in Hungary. I think it looks so sophisticated. I like Sally and Sadie, don't get me wrong, but I think this is more "me," as names with the -ee sound tend to sound babyish sometimes.

Sárika /SHAH ree ka/ is a nickname for the Hungarian names Sarolt, Sarolta, Sára and Sári. The first two names are Turkish in origin, and may come from a word meaning "ermine." The latter two are forms of the Hebrew Sarah meaning "princess."

Sarika has another origin-- in Sanskrit it means "parrot, myna bird" and is the name of a well-known Indian actress.
