Sebastian
- I picture someone with this name scholarly with a fun side.
- A strong name with a Shakespearean pedigree, translates well into all Latin languages. My son called himself “Baz“ or “ Bazie” when learning to speak, and we like that nickname much better than Seb or Sebby.
- love the shorter Bastian, but think that it's better to give longer names
- unfortunately this is my mom's dog's name, so I'll probably never get to use it. We call him "Seb" or "Sebby" most of the time, which i also think are great
- I always love The Never-Ending Story, so thats where this one came from
- This is the most handsome name I have ever heard of. Every Sebastian I have met has been extremely good looking.
- somewhat nerdy, but with a touch of quirky coolness.
- unique with a nerdy twist. I would probably call him Ben.
- Sebastian Judah: If we ever have another son, he will likely receive this name. We both love Sebastian, and it fits the criteria of translating easily to Spanish. It is unusual, without being strange or illiterate, and it will irk our families no end, since they all hate it. (Whether this is a plus or a minus is debatable.) Judah is one of those names that has a good nickname, unusual for a boys' name...so many nice boys' names have ugly nicknames....and it is unusual and pretty. As with most of the names I like, I got it from a novel. Also, as with Sebastian, the whole family hates it.
Sebastian is an English form of the Latin name Sebastianus, which means "from Sebaste." Sebaste was a place in Asia Minor which derived its name from the Greek sebastos meaning "venerable."
