Sequoia

Sequoia is a family of cypress to which the famed California redwood trees belong. The world's tallest trees, redwoods can easily reach 200 feet high (over 60 m). They are also known for their long life spans; the oldest known tree is over 2,000 years old. As a mainstream first name, it started being used as a "nature name" in the mid 20th century, though it is becoming increasingly popular now. As of 2010, it is about 6 times more popular as a girls' name than as a boys' name.
