Sierra
-
I like this name becuase it is like "Sarah or Sara" but not as popular also adds alittle pazaze to the name.I wouldn't mind being named Sierra myself!
- I know it is a car name...I cop that all the time, but I love the femininity in the sounds...a real little princesses name.
- Sierra Leone: its a country in africa, i always thought it sounded very flowing, it comes out some
- Sierra Madison: I love this name because it's unusual, pretty, and anyone that looks at can read it. I hate long names, that no one could figure out in less than an hour how to say it. The name has to have Madison as the middle name though,(I think) It goes great! When I think of a little girl with that name, I imagine a cute little girl, with dark curley hair, silver green eyes, and a pure princess! I love this name.
- Sierra Rose: I knew a cute little girl several years younger than me in school with the name Sierra, but I never really started to like it until more recently. It has a beautiful sound to it, and I like the fact that it reminds of the mountains in Calif. and Nevada. It's also a water distribution company-but it does sound like a name representing something pure, clear, and elevated. While I haven't heard of it much through the years, I know of someone who recently named their newborn girl Sierra. (I want to beat everyone else to using it!!!) Also, I love Roses, but as I'd never use it for a first name, it goes beautifully with Sierra as a middle name.
As a name, Sierra comes from numerous place names in North and South America. In Spanish, sierra means "saw," and refers to jagged mountain ranges that look like the teeth on a saw. It is found in names such as Sierra Nevada ("snowy sawtooth-shaped mountains") and Sierra Madre ("mother sawtooth mountain range"). As a girl's name it became popular in the USA in the late 20th century following the rise of other place-type names like Dakota and Savannah.
