Silenus

In Greek Mythology, the Wisdom of Silenus was when the name-bearer imparted on his pupil Dionysus: "The best thing for a man is not to be born, and if already born, to die as soon as possible." Thus, the ultimate Goth name.

In Greek mythology, Silenus was the teacher and confidant of the god Dionysus. According to tradition, when he was drunk, he had special prophetic powers. He was often portrayed as a drunken old man, and because of his inebriation, needed to be supported by satyrs or ride on a donkey.
