Sterling

Sterling is relatively untouched as far as baby names go. It sounds "strong".

Sterling was originally a Scottish surname denoting one who came from the town of Stirling (in Gaelic: Sruighlea). The meaning of the name of this town is unknown. Sterling in this spelling is also the name of a type of fine silver (Sterling Silver) whose name may be derived from Anglo Saxon meaning "little star" referring to the star that was stamped on some medieval Norman coins made with this substance.
