Tallulah was brought to light by the silent film actress Tallulah Bankhead. Her name may come from the Choctaw word for "leaping falls," which is used in several place names in Georgia and Louisiana.
Similarly, the name Talulla was used as an anglicization of the Irish Gaelic name Tuilelaith /TILL eh law/, a 9th century saint whose name means "lady of abundance." See Also: Talulah
