Tamani

(girl name, variation of Tammany). I like it because it is fairly easy to pronounce and spell, yet unique enough that I am not mistaken for other people. It has a nice rhythm (meter?) to it (say it three or four times in a row and it sounds like a drum beat). Also, since I was actually named for Tammany Hall (before my parents looked it up to see what it was), and it, in turn, was named after an Indian cheif, there is an interesting history behind it. So when people ask "Where'd you get that name?" I can opt for the quick-and-easy "I was named after an Indian Chief" or, if I have more time and they seem interested, I can give them a history lesson (since I am the only person I know who has a political cartoon by the same name--the Tammany Tiger). Also, if I write my name backwards it is 'In a Mat' and I think that is pretty cool, if not a bit nerdy.
