Tegan

• This is a Celtic name, meaning "attractive". I briefly knew a girl once named Teagan and I have loved it ever since. It is pronounced TEE-gan, and is a great alternative to Megan or Reagan. Lots of Irish/Celtic names are popular right now and this one deserves some recognition.
• (pronounced like Megan NOT Tee-gan!) Sounds unusual and watery.
• My most favorite name ever is Tegan ( pronounced like Megan, although most people pronounce it completely wrong, Tee-gun; or just a little off , Tay-gun).  It's my daughter's name( Tegan Louise).  My great aunt was from Scotland, and this was her middle name.  And when I was pregnant, I found it in a baby book....and I couldn't get it out of my head!  It's meaning read 'Doe like', whatever that means!!?  But I absolutely adore it.  I hope someone else might see it somewhere and decide to use it also.

No matter how you spell it, Tegan is a Welsh name, pronounced TEG-in (rhymes with "peg").  It comes from the Welsh word "tegwch," meaning "beauty." However, in English speaking countries, it is usually pronounced "tee-gun."
