Titania
- This would make a great middle name. I love the sound of it.
- THE NAME IS FROM SHAKESPEARE'S 'A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM'. TITANIA IS THE QUEEN OF FAIRYLAND. THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THE NAME, I THOUGHT OF TITANIUM, WHICH IS AN ELEMENT IN THE PERIODIC TABLE, AND ALSO A VERY STRONG METALLIC ALLOY. BUT OBVIOUSLY IT MUST BE THE FEMALE VERSION OF TITAN. I THINK THIS WOULD MAKE A FANTASTIC MIDDLE NAME. IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO ADD SOME VITALITY TO THE SEQUENCE OF NAMES. NICKNAME COULD BE 'TI'
This name came to prominence by Shakespeare's character, who is the queen of the fairies, in the play A Midsummer Night's Dream. Most likely he got the name from Ovid's Metamorphosis, in which "titania" is a title for the daughters of the Titans. The Titans were the old gods of the Greek pantheon who were locked in the pit of Tartarus when they were overthrown by the new Greek gods.
