Vada

• -(pronounced with a long a. NOT as in Nevada. VA-duh). This was the nickname of a friend of mine who's name was Nevada, and is also the name of the character in the film "My Girl." It is unique, simple, and yet a very pretty name.
• Vada Damaris: A few too many d's but still beautiful. From My Girl the movie, Vada. Damaris is a Biblical name. Very unique.
• Vada Roxanne - Vada is after my favorite character in my favorite movie, My Girl, she's such a sweet little girl, and I just love the nickname Roxy, but Roxanne flows better with Vada than Roxy

To me, this name sounds like Darth Vader with a Boston accent. Though is was moderately popular in the early 1900s, this name was recently brought to public attention as the main character in the movie "My Girl." Spelled Veda, it is a feminine name used in India, Sanskrit for "knowledge," but I don't think this has anything to do with the popularity of the name in the USA-- it seems to have followed trends for "-da" names (Ida, Ada, Freda) and V- names (Vera, Viola, etc.)
