Viggo

Yes, I am partial to Mr. Mortensen. I was lucky enough to get to interview him a few months ago when he was promoting Hidalgo. But his name is also cool. It's a short form of Danish names (he's Danish) containing the element "vig," meaning war. His father's name is also Viggo. He explained in a GQ interview that in Denmark it is a sort of archaic, old-fashioned name, and he compared it to Herbert or Oscar. I think it is, like its famous bearer, sexy as hell.

Viggo possibly started out as a short form of Scandinavian names containing the element vig meaning "war." (i.e., Ludvig). It is now occasionally used on its own, more so in the USA since the rise to fame of actor Viggo Mortensen.
