Violet
- I like flower names, but Violet is my favorite, I think. It's not overly used, but not unusual and therefore very manageable. I think Lettie would be a cute nickname.
- I know that this is going to soar in popularity thanks to "The Incredibles," "A Series of Unfortunate Events," and Ben Affleck's daughter, but I still love this older, more sedate sister of Rose and Lily. It has an antique charm to it
- This is the most lovely girls name I can think of. Old-fashioned and feminine and warm. It makes me think of the Boxcar Children and the character of 'Violet' in "It's a Wonderful Life". I can't wait to use this name.
- This is my secret favorite and NOBODY else likes it. I've liked it ever since I read The Box Car Children. She's the middle sister, I believe. I just find it to be the most lovely, unique, beautiful name. And old-fashioned, of course. However, my friend said "would you want your name to be Violet" and truthfully, I'm not sure that I would. Plus, there is the danger of "Vi". However, it still gives me a warm feeling inside.
- This name is just beautiful for a demure personality, just like the demure and beautiful flower it is. It is the name of my beloved cat, but suitable for humans for sure.
- I have loved this name forever, but I'm afraid that it will become really popular, thanks to a host of celebrities using it for their daughters.
Violet, the name of a fragrant purple flower as well as the color it is, has been used as a name in English since at least the 16th century. Its popularity surged in the early 1900s, and it has been enjoying a modest resurgence since the late 1990s. Violetta and Violeta are forms found in Italian and Spanish.
