Walker was originally an English surname denoting one of two professions: the first type of walker is a person that pounded unprocessed wool (often with the feet) in order to thicken it and remove impurities. "Walker" is the name of this profession used in northern and western England. While Fuller and Tucker are terms used in other parts of England.
