Will
- (not William)- this was my second choice for a boy's name. Strong, classic
- I prefer this name to "William" because the word (in its noun sense) implies sureness of mind, and power of self; qualities I'd want a child (and adult, eventually!) to have.
- Will Drenon - The name of my grandmother's little brother, who died of the flu when he was just one year old; he was called Drennon, a cute name similar to Brennan. My cousin passed the name on to her son.
- Will Joshua: This was almost my husbands name and I really like Joshua because because it means saviour. I am just afraid that he would be called Willy.
Will is generally short for William, though it can also be a short form of other Wil- names such as Wilbur, Wilfred or Willis. The element "wil" by itself is used in many germanic names, usually as prefix. Its meaning is "will; desire."
