Xanthe
- (zan-thee) - I believe this name has Greek origins - I found it in a book called 'Troy'. It is very unusual yet it is also pretty and has a background. Plus I can see it on any girl.
- Pronounced ZON-thee. This is definitely a name that would require a totally normal middle name to balance things out a little..... obviously original, maybe even crazy. I love it anyway though...... not too overwhelming (only two syllables), but "zingy" enough to make even the most boring person have character.
In Greek, Xanthe means "yellow; bright," probably referring to blonde hair. The masculine form, Xanthos, was used for Achilles' horse. It was the name of several minor characters in Greek mythology.
