Yvaine

(ee-VAIN or ih-VAIN) As far as I know Neil Gaiman made this up for the heroine of his book Stardust. Yvaine is the human personification of a star that fell to earth. She is beautiful and innocent and falls in love with a mortal man.

This name may represent a feminization of the name Yvain. 12th century French poet Chrétien de Troyes used this form of the name Owain (see Owen) in one of his Arthurian Legend ballads.
