Ziggy
I love the name Ziggy for a boy. It's cute and spunky, but I think it could grow into a great adult name. I don't really like anything it might be short for (Zigmund, Zbigniew). Older folks may think of the bald pants-less guy with the big nose of 1970s comic strips, but I think most have forgotten. This name needs to be brought back!
Ziggy started out as a form of names like Zigmund or Zbigniew. In the 1970s it was brought to public attention by David Bowie's persona Ziggy Stardust as well as the comic strip character created by Tom Wilson. Another famous bearer is Ziggy Marley, reggae musician and son of famous musician Bob Marley. Ziggy Marley was born David, though his father called him Ziggy as a child, which is said to mean "small joint [marijuana]."
