Bow before my mighty computer!
I bought a new computer today. It’s still in its original box.It was $5. It’s a Timex Sinclair!!! I can pick it up tomorrow maybe– I bought it at the Salvation Army in Central Square, but since I was on my bike, I couldn’t bring it home. Hopefully the Salvation Army will be open later than it takes Jo to return with my car. It may not work, it may be ugly… but I bet some geek will pay more than $5 for it on eBay at the very least!
While at the Salvation Army, I was perusing the records (they had the whole Big Country Wonderland EP– too bad I already own it!). I had one of those moments that is custom made for sitcoms. It’s the kind of moment that someone would write into a movie, that would cause the audience to shake their head and think, “that is SO unrealistic!” Well, the unrealistic happened to me today. As I was perusing the records, a little girl came over to me, stopped, looked up, and then said, “what are those?” I was kind of stumped for a reply. I said something like “in the old days, CDs looked like this.” She looked kind of embarrassed and walked away. I was still speechless, and feeling really old, because at the time I was looking at an LP by Kaja (you know, what Kajagoogoo changed their name to after Limahl went solo) and thinking “whoa! I had no idea they put out a second album!” Um, yeah.
