Go, sports team.

October 27th, 2004

Apparently the Red Sox won the World Series. I was on the bus home from work when another bus driver announced it over the walkie talkie. The bus driver lady turned it up so all the passengers could hear. The 5 other passengers (mostly Haitian immigrants) showed no reaction, so she announced it over the PA. I clapped and said “whoo-hoo!” to show my Bostonian spirit. Tufts kids were running all over the place screaming. When I got home, there was a teenager talking on a cellphone, walking down the middle of the street. You could hear him speaking through tears. “The curse. 86 years. The curse. It’s broken. It’s broken.” Every car that goes by is honking and flashing lights. Someone is setting off fireworks. I’m really glad I’m not in Kenmore Square right now– I’m sure there are massive riots going on. Congrats, Boston!
