Rae bought this Godiva chocolate liqueur. It’s really tasty (in coffee, on ice cream, by itself…)– it brings back fond memories of youth. Mom had this white glass decanter with matching little glasses that sat on a fake mantle in the dining room (our house was filled with these things that looked like there should be a fireplace, but instead there was just a wooden outline and a mantle) that she kept filled with chocolate liqueur. Some of my fondest memories are of sneaking nips of it when I was a kid– damn did it taste good! What Rae bought must have been the same, because it tastes exactly like what I remember.

Speaking of alcoholic beverages, I finally found a suitable vessel for the sake– I got it at China Fair, this restaurant supply place near Poatah Squeah. Rae, Aragorn and I sat around drinking sake this evening. I approve!

Ack, there has actually been a ton of stuff to do at work lately–it seems like no matter how many DVDs I put out, there are a hundred that have sprung up in their places needing attention. Plus, I still have to finish putting out all the pins, and I mean ALL of the pins. When the inventory people did the inventory on them, they took them off the racks and chucked them into a basket. Thus I had to sort them and will have to put them up all over again. That’s gonna take forever. I work best at that sort of thing when my life sucks, or I feel things spiraling out of control, and I need some boring repetitive task to feel grounded. Unfortunately, things are pretty blandly stable right now, and I feel like running and jumping, rather than standing still sticking buttons with catchy slogans like, “if you get any closer, I’ll fart” and “No, really. I love working with you assholes” to blocks of gray foam rubber all day.

I went to the post office today– the sun was shining, and it was beautiful out! I walked there– I love living in the city. You can walk to anywhere. Back in Meffid, getting anywhere required planning and could be an ordeal. Here, I can go anyplace on a whim! Anyway, it was a nice walk, and I finally mailed the packages to Moth and Perry that I’ve been meaning to mail for a while now. The post office guy was talking about how long he’d been working there, and mentioned that he started the day before the space shuttle blew up. He added, “you probably are too young to remember that, huh?” I was flattered. “Um, I was 13 then,” I said, and everyone gave me a look like they thought I was lying. It was kind of awesome. Score one more for immaturity!
