Happy Memorial Day!

Posted by scooter in the demon alcohol, i like movies., Fun at 7:53 pm

It was gorgeous out today– Punktard, Rae and I went to the Arboretum to check out the 50 billion specieses (speces? What’s the plural of species?) of lilacs, since Rae is fanatacal about those particular bushes. We also viewed the bonsais, which were pretty rad, even though they’re locked inside this gazebo thing and you can only look in at them through the slats.

Afterwards, it started storming, and the temperature dropped rapidly, so we stayed inside vegging on the couch. P-tard and I finished watching Star Wars and started Empire (he gave me the VHS set that rules– it’s the versions before George Lucas went and fucked with the movies). Then the anti-Star Wars heathens Rae and Aragorn (they’re too young to understand!) came in and we watched The Family Guy and this show called Wonder Falls that Aragorn’s all into. It’s pretty good. However, I don’t think I’ve watched this much TV in the past month combined, and I feel dirty. I don’t know why I always feel fat and lazy when I watch TV. I mean, I’m generally a fat and lazy person– I should feel like that all the time! However, there’s something about being a couch potato that really drives that fact home.

Now I have a booze-induced headache (after all, what’s the point of watching TV is there’s no booze?) and should go to bed. It’s weird– I borrowed this 4-DVD set of The Family Guy from Darryl at work, and I need to give it back ASAP. However, I still have about 5 eipsodes left to go. Every time I have a spare minute, I feel all guilty, and am like, SHIT! I have to watch The Family Guy so I can give Darryl his DVDs back! It’s become like a chore. I mean, don’t get me wrong–I think that show is wicked hilarious, it’s just that under normal conditions, it would probably take me a year to watch all those episodes. See? I’m an especially lazy couch potato!

Crap, that reminds me– I still have one of Gus from work’s DVDs as well. I have to finish it– it’s a bunch of short animations, each one supposedly celebrating one typeface, with electronic music of varying quality in the background of each one. It’s actually kind of cool. However, it’s the sort of thing that totally gives Rae hives, so I have to find time when she’s not around to watch it. Meanwhile, I am a major slacker for not having returned it yet. Maybe I’ll just give it back without finishing it.

Ack. I’m preparing my soul for working tomorrow night–the masses must have their Oasis CDs! Good night!
