Happy Birthday Lola!

August 25th, 2005

Yesterday was Lola’s 6-month birthday. Yes, the little baby kitten is now old enough to get fixed. MUHAHAHAHAH!! She celebrated by being revoltingly cute all day. First she took a nap with me, and didn’t engage in any destructive acts at all! She actually slept for a couple of hours! Then she crawled into a plastic bag on my bed with just her head sticking out and chilled there for a while. It was really cute–I took pictures. Maybe I’ll upload them one of these days.

THEN, I left some chicken out to defrost, and when I returned, only one bag of chicken was present. Rae and I went on a mad scavenger hunt for it, and eventually found it in a gnawed pile behind a box under my drafting table. I will never leave meat out again! Afterwards, I got to clean it up again, when Lola barfed it up! She gave US a birthday present!

Yesterday I didn’t have to work any jobs at all. It was lovely! I went and saw a matinee of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory–it was pretty good. Seeing movies in the daytime is so decadent! I love it! The art direction and the sets and stuff were amazing. The weird subplot about Willie Wonka not getting along with his father was… um, eventually heartwarming. I don’t remember that in the book, but then I haven’t read the book in probably 20 years. Christopher Lee made a good evil dentist dad, though! Johnny Depp was kind of annoying as Willie Wonka, but he was supposed to be, I guess.

I remember when I saw the original movie with Gene Wilder, I hated it because I was about 10, and had just read the book, and it was nothing like the book I had in my mind. Now I’d like to see that one again!

With lots of time left on our hands in the evening, the Biatch and I rented Closer, which I didn’t realize contained Julia Roberts. I think she is officially my least favorite actress on the planet, and has been for a number of decades now. They should have called the movie “Everybody Sucks,” because that’s basically what it was about–4 people who really suck. Just when you think some character isn’t a big poopyhead, he or she will do something sucky as well. It was kind of enjoyable to watch these train-wreck characters run around being jerks, though.

The new T.Raumschmiere CD came out on Tuesday and I picked it up yesterday. I haven’t listened to all of it yet, though. Track 2 was kind of horrifying, but I liked track 3. Maybe #2 will grow on me, who knows? I can’t really form a good opinion of it because I haven’t listened to it enough. So there. I’m just procrastinating going to Sparky’s Organic Emporium now, so I think I’ll shut up and eat breakfast.
