Damn you, white half!
Yesterday Krustee and I went to Georges Island– it was absolutely gorgeous out. It was warm, but the island was nice and breezy. We poked around the old fort taking pictures and stuff.
Because it was so gorgeous, there were like a zillion people on the island, so the park ranger went around personally asking everyone to go home on the 4:30 boat instead of the 5:30 one (the last one off the island), so there would be enough room for everyone. that kind of bit, since we got there at 2:30, but we made the most of our 2 hours. We ate a picnic lunch complete with a jug of biatch’s sangria (Krustee discovered it’s even better if you add gin to it– but then it’s a Santa Sangre!)
The fort on Georges Island is totally awesome. It has dark scary rooms and passageways, as well as bright sunny places to walk and hang out. The boat ride is really awesome, too (although we were both freezing on the way over– the wind was pretty chilly on the top deck!)
When we got home, I discovered that my sunscreen putting on abilities are pretty useless, thus I am sunburned as a, well… sunburned person. Damn you, white half! How come I’m only 1/2 white, yet I burn faster than anyone I know? Needless to say, I ruined by beautiful goth-like pallor and now look like a dead lobster. I also got some heatstroke– I felt nauseous and dizzy all day today and kept almost falling down at work. Luckily, it was a low-key day being a holiday and all, so I don’t think anyone noticed. I went to Jared’s afterwards and took a nap, and he made me a rainbow sherbet float in peach Crystal Lite. It sounds hideous, but it was actually pretty good– sherbet is so sweet it covers up the weird fake sugary taste of the Crystal Lite. Now I still feel pretty barfy and dizzy– hopefully it will go away by morning!
P.S. I freaking HATE it when my eyelids are sunburned. Just thought I’d share.
